It resonates deeply, and, as you write about Mary’s joy and also the sword piercing her soul, why I find the statue of the Pieta - Mary holding the body of Christ in her arms after the crucifixion - such a powerful image alongside that of her holding the infant Jesus at the nativity. The joy and the sorrow, and the miracle of her motherly love.
